The Rain, How I love it!

September 30th, 2008

There isn’t onething I love more then the rain. I know, you all maybe asking is she crazy and yes I probably am about the rain at least. You see most people see it as a draby let down kind of a day because its raining outside but that is the seceret about the rain. It is the onething that keeps us inside it clams people down from their fast pace lives. It was the onething I could always rely on that would bring family and friends together. When everything was cut off from us to do because of the rain we were able to enjoy each others company, talk, laugh, watch movies and make memories. It slowed us all down from our busy lives to just enjoy what we had infront of us and not what we had to do next or what we could be doing. We ceased the moment in the rain and just had fun with what we had before us. So you see, the rain is way more important then just making sure the earth is watered. It slows us down. It keeps us aware of what we have. It even makes us get to those projects that have been pushing aside done (ahahaha… yes that can be sort of dreadful at times because it may led t fix it projects but you never know it could be fun..). So next time it rains don’t hate it because it is stopping you from what you need to be doing. Maybe its just God saying hey I made it rain today just for you so you could enjoy me and what I have given to you. Love the rain it might just be what you need that day.

Happy Times!!!!

September 18th, 2008

I have been so happy lately!!! Even if at time it seem like I should’nt be.  One day I was mad and was talking to Kateland, but I was still smiling and it was really funny.  Its like the problems in life are so small and fixable that why not be happy as if they really are taken care of ya know? Sometimes when you are in accelerated growth you just have to make yourslf push through and know its okay if I mess up again. I just dont need to dwell on all the wrong because that slows things down and makes the whole situation worse and pushes me away from what God thinks about it all.  Its alot easier when you just think about living the day with God.  I heard the greatest thing in a movie today…the first line was “If you wanna make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”  Its so stinkin’ true!!!!!! My thoughts for my life and for after this internship are probably cracking God up!lol! So I just tell Him okay then and I dont know, but here are some ideas just in case you need them ;)    Life is so much easier when we get past ourselves.  I mean I do love myself; the self that God is helping me to be and what I am becoming.  The icky stuff is eventually just going to get breezed right on over to the side.  So until then be happy and be happy when it is gone.

The sun shine over me.

September 15th, 2008

Let’s see two months ago exactly I said goodbye to all my friends and family back home. I traveled over 12 hours to get here and I suddenly find myself looking back and reflecting on all that has taken place and is it even possible to have all of this happen. I have come to the conclusion that, YES, yes it is possible to have your dreams come true. You see before I came to North Carolina it was only a dream for me because I had always wanted to come and see my favorite lighthouse. Off of Cape Hatteras Island stands the tallest lighthouse in North America and I have only dreamed of coming and seeing it. Well before the internship started I was able to go and see Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and even climb it. I stood on the top and I realzied that I was doing something that I really thought would never happen and I had just had one of my life long dreams full filled. Now most of you reading this are probably say okay that doesn’t seem that grand and its just a lighthouse but when you live as far away from the East Coast as I did it can be a big deal. I loved it so much it is a memory I will remember for life.

Another opportunity that I got that only seemed like a life long dream that would never happen was the meeting with Bob Jones. I remember telling people that I was going to meet Bob Jones and they would tell me, Kateland I never got to meet Bob Jones when I thought I was going to and so I highly doubt you will meet him. I was always like well that is your fault for doubting but I am still going to meet him and I did. I not only got to talk to him but also was able to have him pray for me and he took me and the rest of the interns out for LUNCH! I mean really this meeting was once in a life time and it was everything I had hoped for and more. I learned so much and came back with lots of revelation and understanding of different things.

All this just reminds me to keep on dreaming and that no dream I mean NO dream is to small for our Big GOD. He knows our desires and he knows our hearts and he will give them to us what we want. Many of you may be saying well you say that only because you had your dreams fullfilled but the truth is I have waited for years and I mean at least a good five years to happen. So sorry but that excuse doesn’t work anymore just keep dreaming and when it seems as though it has been lost that just means you got to keep dream even more because it probably will happen soon. Nothing is impossible with Jesus and I am not just saying that anymore I believe it. Now that some of my dreams have been full filled I have to get some more crazy dreams to have full filled.

Hope you have a wonderful day! Kateland

Wilkes County is the place to be.

September 5th, 2008

Well howdy folks,

This is Kateland coming to you from the one and only Awake intern house. For all you people back home in Alaska and to all the rest who have never been around North Carolina I would love to take you on a little tour of our good old town of Wilkesboro, NC where we all live. I was going to ask you to close your eye and imagine with me but since you are reading this you can’t really do that. SO, just imagine along with the reading. We will start here where us interns live. We live in an old farm house right outside of Wilkes county. We are surrounded daily with lovely horses that keep you awake at night sometimes for no apparent reason just because they are horses. Also sometimes you are awakened by the lovely dogs that live up from us in the morning. Granite its not a rooster that wakes you but its seems pretty close if you ask me to what a farm would be like. Now if you are new to Wilkesboro you will not know a very key thing about this town that is vital information. I will share with you this secrete just in case you ever come here. There are two parts of this town, there is North Wilkesboro and a Wilkesboro. My mother and I were informed of this when we first arrived and they locals will tell you that there is a for sure difference in which part of town you are in. So be aware of where you are at all times ahhaha.. okay that was a little to dramatic but it is funny to how there are two very different parts to this town. Another interesting little thing you should know if you are from the West coast or Mid-west is that they do not drink coffee here in the south. So the next place I will be taking you to is the lovely and pretty much only coffee shop that exist in Wilkes county or in a 40 mile radius off of the interstate. So you will leave our house and head down town to North Wilkesboro to the lovely coffee shop called Talias. I LOVE IT THERE! It almost seems out place in a good old fashion town but the food is amazing and my mom says the coffee is some of the best she have ever had. Its got great art and great light fixtures. The layout of the place is just awesome and you can either enjoy your food inside or outside. Oh yes and not to mentions the owners are awesome people that love Jesus as well which of course is a bonus. Now if you are looking for some good exercise you can go for a walk around town after you have eaten at Talias. It is great and there are lets just say some interesting little shops that you could venture into if you wanted to. Downtown North Wilkesboro really catches the good old southern town feel to it with its lovely brick buildings and its thousands of churches. I am serious there is at least one church around every corner and not little ones either big ones.

Now if it is a hot day in Wilkes county which it almost is every day you could always go and enjoy the man made lake but be sure you come prepared with some sort of bug repellent and a chair because there is not much of a lake front just grass or rock to lay on out in the sun. This is not much of an attraction for most people unless you have a boat or a ski-doo. So if you come prepared let us know because we’d love to come with you. Last but not least the main place to hang out and its not in North Wilkesboro either it is a place where you can observe everyday life to its fullest in Wilkes county. It is the Wal Mart in Wilkesboro ahahha… It is true that is the local hang out for many young people. We have had a our fair share of interesting moments at the Wal Mart not including the inability of not understanding everyone because the all have southern accents but it is the funny looks you get because you have a western accent. I know it is quite comical some days. Especially because they know you are not from around these parts. We have though recently become nervous to walk around the Wal Mart in fear because we have been threaten that if we do not write a blog once a week we will be flogged by the employees of Wal Mart. (Sorry Craig just couldn’t help mentioning that and don’t worry people its just a joke.)

Well I hope you have enjoyed your little tour of the town I live in. It has its sure interesting moments daily but it can be kind of fun. I guess this just means that if you want to know more about it you will just have to come and experience it for yourself. Have a lovely day!
